"We are Licensed by our Governing body ADB And our aim is to introduce new anglers to our sport. All participation and coaching statistics are recorded and supplied to our governing body to produce regularly updated information, which in turn is used to secure funding for ADB projects. We also fully support the ADB regional development arm, Somerset angling development group. This group works solely to promote angling, develop coaching and support clubs in the Somerset area. Our only goal is to develop angling with the above organisations and community groups to promote angling as a sport for all will no barriers"

Private Coaching - Moonfleet-Angling

All Qualified Angling Coaches can be relied upon to provide comprehensive coaching for all ages and abilities. Some coaches also specialise. You can be assured that comprehensive training is undertaken by all 1st4Sport coaches.

• Enhanced CRB checks.
• 1st Aid trained including paediatric.
  
• Health and safety trained including Generic risk assessment.
  

Sessions can be based on venue only, or combined with a workshop session based on building your own rigs. Moonfleet has an excellent name for just this, and the knowledge you will take away is there for good. The benefit of Video and Photography comes at no extra cost, and this is something you can use again and again to measure improvement.

All Coaches will practice staged learning. Planned sessions are designed to enable you to learn at your pace and in your own time, away from your coach. Angling Coaches do not simply teach you how to cast; they will take you through the whole range of skills involved in angling, from the most basic to advanced methods relating to specific species and venues. You will learn organisation skills and methods to maximise your time spent angling, and for people travelling to the area for holidays, we will always try to match venues to beaches closer to you.

Ian Houlton owner of Moonfleet Angling, specialising in Rig manufacture, educational angling for schools/children and Fish to eat.
Ian has reached level 2 1st4Sport Coach (Sea angling) Upgraded to UKCC He has further enhanced his training with Visual Impairment, disability awareness.

While working with anglers of all ages and abilities, Ian has formed programs that allow visually impaired “Novice” anglers to take up the sport fully independently resulting in the ability to function totally without the need of a coach. He will also be working alongside Casting coach Colin Olver to provide insight into rig use, angling techniques and Casting tuition on the beaches of Dorset and Somerset. Safety for Anglers is always a priority.

Bournemouth area

Colin Olver - Sea Angler Magazine Casting Instructor teaches OTG and Pendulum Casting. He likes to help anglers from total beginners to the more experienced angler, giving encouragement to repeat the experience if necessary. He prefers to have a teaching session, followed by a fishing session and will be happy to explain various Moonfleet Angling rigs, knots and general safety aspects of fishing i.e. the necessity of shock leaders.
